Vincennes is one of Indiana ‘s oldest cities founded in1732 as a French fur trading post. It was the capital
of the Indiana Territory from  1800-1813. Of the many sites in Vincennes we will visit 2, the Indiana Military
Museum and the Red Skelton museum . At the military Museum we will journey from the American
Revolution to the beaches of Normandy, the jungles of Vietnam to the deserts of Afghanistan. Explore the
life and times of brave military men and women, the uniforms they wore, weapons they used and
vehicles they drove. Experience the stories you know a new way, and discover one’s you ‘ve never heard
about. The Indiana military Museum is home to one of the most unique, comprehensive collection of
military artifacts in the United States. Next, after lunch on your own, we change the story to the Red
Skelton museum. The museum features a 3500 square foot, fully interactive exhibit entitled ” Red
Skelton : a Legacy of Laughter” Featuring Red’s Comedy Kit, Interactive Learning, Memorabilia , Stage
Set, and Showcase Theater . This will finish the day with some laughter

Settled in 1814, New Harmony was first a spiritual sanctuary for the Harmonie Society and then a haven
for international scientists and scholars led by Robert Owen in1825. New Harmony became known as a
center for advances in education and scientific research. Many of the town’s old Harmonist buildings still
stand and have been restored. These structures, along with the others related to the Owenite
community, are included in the New Harmony Historic District. Contemporary add itions to the town
include the Roofless Church and Atheneaum. Tour Robert Owens experimental community, referred by
some as a “19th Century Williamsburg”. Enjoy. the museum, labyrinth, antiques, shopping, and lunch on
your own at one of the several interesting restaurants. Please note that once we are there, this is a
walking tour.
