MARC building put up for sale.

AN ANNOUNCEMENT TO ALL MARC MEMBERS

Since the Model A Restorers Club was chartered in 1952, your Boards of Directors have been working diligently to provide you with the best experience available in a vintage automobile club.

There have been numerous changes over the years to help improve your club and there have been some not-forgotten aches as well. As the Club moved from a simple gathering of like-minded enthusiasts in the basement of George and Sid DeAngelis’ home and eventually to a brick and mortar building in Garden City, Michigan, our membership continued to grow into the organization that exists today.

Of course, along with the welcomed growth came the inevitable increase in expenses and dues to accommodate those expenses and meet our goals. As most members are aware, an increase in dues is an issue that strikes many of us where we would not like to be stricken. To be sure, this letter is not about an increase in dues!

However, while dues are the driving force behind our financial stability, expenses constantly occupy the thoughts and minds of your directors, and cutting expenses is a primary goal of every MARC director.

Now, the announcement: with much angst, calculation and forethought, your Board of Directors has voted (unanimously) to place the office building in Garden City for sale on the market. As we hope you realize, there were many factors considered before the vote was taken, but in the end, we feel the decision was correct and will benefit the membership in the long run.

The building has essentially become a storage facility with few, if any, visitors over the past several years and our expenses for maintenance, taxes, city compliance, and general security have risen dramatically. The market is at a reasonable price point at this time, and we stand to be able to sell at an advantage.

The monies received will be placed in an interest-bearing account separate from the general treasury to preserve its use for a possible future office at another location. Books, files and other contents will be safely stored in a temperature controlled unit.

Again, we hope you understand the Board’s decision to sell the building, and we hope that this move will make our club more agile and stable in our future endeavors.

Sincerely,

Board of Directors,
Model A Restorers Club, Inc.
