No Model A’s were destroyed..ken and Cheryl Roy
What does a bunch of old guys do when they have nothing to do? Build a speedster of course! To tell the story behind this speedster, we have to go back to its previous owner, 97-year-old, Verl Newman. The guys started to gather parts that included a 1929 Tudor frame, cowl, and gas tank from the woods on Verl’s brother’s property. The cowl side panels had to be replaced as well as the gas tank. A 1909 Cadillac seat frame was retrieved from Verl’s fire pit as he now had a use for it. The round gas tank of unknown origins was purchased at Hershey. A Model T windshield was cut down. The step plates are supported by fender braces. It had a rebuilt engine which was purchased from a friend. Other miscellaneous parts were either donated by friends or purchased. Verl’s daughter did the upholstery and helped make the trunk. The three-year build was pretty much complete with the help of many of Verl’s friends. It was running but never put on the road. Fast forward to 2023 when Ken & Cheryl Roy purchased and plated it. Since then, the seat riser has been lowered by 10” so Ken could drive it safely. Unfortunately, the engine had to be replaced so we installed a new engine, radiator, 6-volt alternator, a 5.5 head, and a header. Future plans for this old school build include paint and securing the spare tire to the back. It is a fun ride and garners attention wherever we go.
