Keys & Codes – Parts and Articles on Originality Project

Steve Pluckers Key Study

The following study relates to the “keys” that were used in the Model A Ford.  This data was taken from the Ford Dealership Bill of Sale’s or a record of them.

It was recommended that each dealer write the key codes onto the customer’s Bill of Sale of a particular car of truck.  These codes are represented here along with their engine serial number.

This practice was done to eliminate the possibility of owners losing their door or ignition switch keys thus would be a reference should duplicate keys be needed.  It was also advisable to place the key information on the dealership service records.

It is also a database to show a more specific cut-off date between old and new styles.

If you have any Ford Dealership Bill of Sale’s or other data with “key codes” on them, would you please consider placing the data into this database for all to enjoy? Please be sure to contact me.

Thanks.

Steve
